Watershed
Flash floods and mudslides triggered by heavy rains from fire-denuded slopes, slope failures from supersaturated soils or hillsides cleared of soil-anchoring vegetation cannot be just blamed on “nature”. Slope failures can become a common occurrence as hillside stability deteriorates after slopes are undercut and drains that are supposed to safely dissipate or channel water are not properly maintained. It is just a matter of time. So, let us be prepared.
